LEVAIN BAKERY

The cookies here are really that good.  They are a whopping 6 ounces each.  They're rich, they're gourmet and the texture is perfect.... crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside.  If you are lucky enough to get them warm, which is a really good chance, they are crunchy on the outside and molten and ooey and gooey on the inside!  Of the only four kinds, the dark chocolate chocolate chip are the best.... but they are all good.  They almost make you want to cry.  Plus, the experience of walking into this downstairs hole-in-the-wall is great.  Staff is uber sweet and they all wear a cute little uniform.  I suppose it is a good thing that I don't live in NY because I would be there every few days... and that would be fun but not pretty!

Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip - There are no words.

UMAMI BURGER - BELIEVE THE HYPE.

What's going on that's so special between those  "U"- branded brioche buns, you ask?  It's hard to describe everything that is Umami Burger.  First of all, is umami really the fifth taste?  Yes, it is. Umami taste can be created by using ingredients rich in Umami taste.  Your taste buds then detect the umami and the salivating begins.  So after salty, bitter, sweet and sour, umami is actually the fifth taste.

Umami Burger's menu keeps it simple, about nine burgers. You'll find beef, pork, portobello, garden, turkey plus the occasional guest star. Burgers are cooked perfectly.. medium rare and are garnished with items such as ... There is also a secret menu, with a few items, including the best burger ever.... the Spicy Bird. You have to ask for it. Actually, it's mandatory that at least one in your party actually order it. It's that good and it rivals their famous Truffle Burger. Burgers are on the small side but one should satiate you. If not, split tree among two of you. Fries are solid. Sweet potato fries are sweet and salty. Tempura Onion rings are greasy but stellar. Cheese fries, cheesy tater tots and smashed potatoes also make guest appearances.
